Crocodiles are the largest reptiles in the world and the closest cousins to birds (!). These two species are descended from the Archosaurians.
The marine crocodile is the most dangerous of all crocodiles. It is the largest of all and can weigh up to a ton, or as much as a small car. While most crocodiles live in rivers or lakes, the marine crocodile is the only one able to live in fresh water as well as in salt sea water. There are 25 species other than the marine crocodile, including example the Nile crocodile, the armored crocodile, the alligator and the caiman.
